Welcome to the wonderful world or Dr Hauschka and I do mean 'wonder-filled'. In 2001 I received my aesthetics diploma from the Aveda Institute in Victoria, British Columbia. When I graduated I worked for several years at spa's in my area. But my ultimate goal was to have my own skincare business. I began a search for a natural skin care line I could use in my home based skincare studio.
I attended a spa show in Vancouver, BC, and while looking through the long list of skincare companies selling their wares, I saw the name Dr Hauschka Skincare. At the time I knew nothing about Dr Hauschka. Something lead me to decided that out of all the companies present this was the one I was heading for. When I came to their booth it was very different from all the other sellers at the show. In fact no one seemed to be in a rush to sell me anything. They invited me to sit down and they truly wanted to educate me about the philosophy behind their unique products.
As they told me the story of Dr Hauschka skincare, I was amazed to discover that it has its roots in the philosopher Rudolf Steiner and the anthroposophical movement. All my life I have been surrounded by people involved with Rudolf Steiners philosophies, even though I myself knew hardly a thing about him or his ideas. I grew up on a small island that had a
Waldorf school, and had many friends who were brought us with Steiner's teachings. I knew I had truly hit the jackpot and I no longer had to look any further for my natural skincare line. To top it off, the kind people at the booth, rather then try to sell me products, actually gifted me with a beautiful sample kit. I remember being impressed with their unique way of introducing me to their products and philosophy. Amazingly they didn't even have any products to sell at the spa show. It was truly about connecting.
From there I went on to complete my training with the company to become a certified Dr Hauschka esthetician. I am proud to be one of a small handful of specially trained certified Dr Hauschka aestheticians in Canada. My blog is intended to share with you the joy and wonder of this magnificent skincare line and inspire you to embrace a truly holistic approach to caring for you skin and your whole being.
