The Best Product For Dewy Skin

This week I meet with a client in her mid 60's who is a smart cookie.  I know she is a smart cookie because she is using a whole range of Dr Hauschka products to look after her skin...and her health.  I can't emphasis enough the care we must take in ensuring that what we put on our skin is pure, and of the highest quality.  Our skin being lipophilic allows ingredients to pass through more readily then actually ingesting that same ingredient.  Great news if the said ingredient is borage oil but not so great if its a non organic mineral oil.  But back to my smart cookie client.

What impressed me about this woman was her renegade attitude  toward wrinkles.  She wasn't fighting the natural aging process with invasive treatments or dubious products claiming to make her look 20 years younger.  She was at peace with her age and enjoying life.  What she did want to improve on was the glow and vitality of her skin.  Hallelujah!  Yes, yes, yes...this is what we need to be focusing on mature skinned ladies.  Botox, injections and laser can be administered to the ying yang but if the canvas of the face...your skin, looks lifeless and dull we've really missed the mark.

So whats the solution? Its actually so easy.  Dr Hauschka Rose Cream.  Get your dew on ladies with this beautiful cream that as of May 2014 has a new formula.  Now rich in carnauba wax to provide the skin with even more protection.  It's also richer in roses, biodynamic extras of wild rose hip, rose blossoms, rose wax, rose water, rose oil from damask roses. Each tube contains over 1,075 rose petals. It's a favourite of Kate Moss, Jade Jagger and Cher. It makes sense that being so rich in roses it would make lead itself to providing the dewy glow smart cookies are going for.

The Saddest Thing Women Tell Me

During the course of a week I spend alot of time with women talking about their skin and over all well being.  I share with them what I have learnt from 14 years as a Dr Hauschka esthetician.  I truly want these women to find balance not only from any skincare issues they are dealing with but in their over all life, which is greatly effecting the health and vibrancy of their skin. I use my tool kit of personal resources that have granted me solace.  After a in depth discussion of there skin woes, I share about the transformative power the humble bath.  A simple bath combined with any one of the Dr Hauschka face masks is a woman best friend.

Bath + mask = Skin transformation in the form of radiance, vitality and glow.  So simple what woman wouldn't want to leap into her tub?

But here is the sad thing I hear over and over again from the beautiful women I am privilege to help.
Women in large  numbers are telling me they don't have time for a bath.  They stare at me blankly and comment that they don't remember the last time they had a bath, or they think wistfully about the concept of having time for a bath.  Something is truly wrong with our society if there isn't  enough time in ones day to enjoy the pleasure of a warm bath.  Time for a bathing revolution!

Bathing helps one reconnect with the wonder of who you are.  Movement and dance maverick Gabriel Roth  wrote that Westerners struggle with traditional eastern meditation practices that involve sitting still for extended periods of time. She advocated moving meditation, dancing, walking, painting, drawing, gardening.  I would add to that list bathing.  Recent research from university of Dublin highlights the physiological benefits of bathing- dilating blood vessels. lowering stress induced blood pressure, and revitalizing the adrenal glands and nervous system.

Personally a don't miss a day with out a proper visit with my tub.  Sometimes I have 2 baths, a morning bath and evening bath.  If things are on the out and out, 3 baths are the antidote.  I read that clothing designer Tom Ford has up to 7 baths a day, and he looks gorgeous.
While your healing you self in you bathing sanctuary, pour in some Dr Hauschka Bath Essence and slip on one of the Dr Hauschka facial mask.  The revolution has begun.

Sea Buckthorn an Oil Every One Will Love

Have you been noticing Sea Buckthorn Oil popping up on the shelves of your favorite natural food stores?  There is  a resurgence of plant and seed oils being used on the face and body for good  reason.  Did you know our skin absorbs nutrients more quickly then if we digest the same substance?  We really can fed the skin!  Sea Buckthorn Oil is a wonder oil and I encourage you to begin incorporating it into you skin health routine.  In the Dr Hauschka skincare line Sea Buckthorn can be found in the Regenerating Eye Cream and the Daily Hydrating Eye Cream.

Sea buckthorn gets to the root cause of imbalances in the skin by going deep within the lipid layers and healing from the inside out. Seabuckthorn, Hippophae rhamnoides, is extraordinarily rich and vital oil that is perfectly balanced in omega 3, 6, 7 and 9 oils. The oil is also potent in antioxidants, has anti-inflammatory properties, carotenoids like beta carotene, and phytosterols that reduce redness and help heal mucous membranes. it regenerates cells, protects against cell water loss and is rich in vitamins C, E, and pro-vitamins A and B. Seabuckthorn oil is also rich in lipids, beneficial fatty acids and rare palmitoleic acids. All of these extraordinary plant properties contribute to regenerate and revitalize connective tissue.
Its combination of vitamin E and provitamin A binds free radicals and protects the skin from sun, dry air and wind. The oil supports regeneration of the skin and is thus said to counteract skin aging. Rough, dry skin becomes supple again.

The other constituents of sea buckthorn also appear to be present in particularly large amounts. The vitamin C content, for example, is nine time that of citrus fruits.

Sea buckthorn has been valued in Chinese and Tibetan medicine for 2000 years and is used particularly for restoring vitality. If you feel washed out, weak or tired sea buckthorn is the right thing to pep you up.
Sea buckthorn is born of the sun and likes brightness. The colour of its berries, crowded together on the branches like numerous setting suns, is a supreme reflection of this preference. But sea buckthorn does not wither and dry out in the intensive rays of the sun. Maybe this is what has made sea buckthorn the plant for helping dry skin.

What I am Using Now

I am unbelievably lucky, as a Dr Hauschka esthetician I get to play everyday with a multitude of amazing products for my face, body and hair.  With every new season I change things up and discover new favorites.  Here is what I am currently using to create comfortable glowing skin during the winter months:

Morning:  I  start my day by apply a light application of Dr Hauschka body oil to my entire body.  This is not a routine for someone in a rush...I like a slow morning and try my best to schedule my day so that I have a nice amount of time to spend with my self in the morning.  Hauschka makes several amazing body oils and I choose which one to use based on mood and constitution.  Almond St John's Wort is great for this time of year as it captures the sun which is sorely missed in the Northern Hemisphere.  I massage this into my skin and allow it to absorb for at least 10 minutes.  Then I start my morning shower.  I never use soap on my body, if I did so in the winter I would be insanely dry and itchy.  I use a Hauschka body wash...usually Lemon Lemongrass to enliven me in the morning.  While I am in the shower I use the Dr H Cleansing Cream, always pressing it into my skin, never scrubbing.  When I am done in the shower, I lightly pat myself dry, and while my skin is still damp I apply more body oil, as it absorbs into the skin perfectly when you leave you skin slightly damp.  This prevents any dryness that is common in winter time.  I spritz on my Dr H Toner and while my skin is still damp, a drop of Dr H Regenerating Serum, followed by the Regenerating Eye Cream.  Then I top all that off with a moisturiser, currently favoring the Regenerating Day Moisturiser.  I am also dabbing on a few drops of the Normalising Day Oil as it feels so protective for my face.

Less makeup is feeling right for me these day, and I love the sparkle and glow the Limited Edition Eye Shadow Plate gives.  The colours in this collection are amazing and truly look spectacular on every woman I have applied it to.  And you have to love the beautiful gold compact it comes in...having something that is  beautifully designed really does have an effect.

Night time is easy, remove makeup with Cleansing Milk, followed by my Cleansing Cream.  My skin feels velvety soft as these cleansers don't contain soap and there for won't strip you skin.  If you suffer from dry skin...these will change everything.  No night creams are used in the Dr Hauschka line... water based products are appropriate for night  and right now I am doing a 28 day course of the Intensive Conditioner 04.  This contains gold, amber, blue tourmaline and Sandalwood....yes, you read correctly, precious metals and gem stones. A few sprays to the face and I am set for bed.  Oh...and to help settle down...Moor Lavender oil applied to the feet...socks over top optional.  What's your winter  skin care regime?

What Rose Does For Us On The Inside

DD
Did you know that almost all of Dr Hauschka skincare products contain rose in some form?       I think this symbolic flower can often be over looked so  I want to share with you a little reminder about the power of this plant that has been called for good reason the  Queen of the flowers.
Rose  is the most complex and special of all flowers – it resonates so powerfully with the heart, nurturing and healing emotionally, uplifting spiritually, as well as rejuvenating and hydrating on a physical level. It stimulates and opens the  radiant energy of the heart, so the skin glows … as well as inspiring love, joy and empathy.
The poet Kahlil Gibran says ‘Beauty is not in the face. Beauty is a light in the heart’... what I adore about roses is that they have a spiritual quality which nurtures and affirms the light in the heart, as well as physically nourishing the skin and balancing emotions.
Emotionally: The smell and energy of a rose has a magic about it. Rosa Damascena helps heal emotional trauma and disharmony and restore a beautiful inner stillness and balance.
Spiritually: Rose Otto is known to expand the heart and elevate mind and soul to its highest vibration. It also energizes the chakras and strengthens the aura.

It's easy to see why Dr Hauschka places an emphasis on rose in its skincare line.  Beauty is not just about outward appearance.  Rose helps us from within to be in harmony and more peaceful and that is beautiful.
On account of its harmonizing power, the rose can be found as essential rose oil, rose water, rose wax or rose petal extract in almost all the Dr.Hauschka Skin Care range, including the decorative cosmetics. In preparations such as Rose Day Cream, Rose Day Cream light, Firming Mask, Rose Body Moisturizer,Rose Body Oil, Rose Body Wash and Deodorant floral is paramount, in all others it reigns in secret.to is the most complex and special of all essential oils – it resonates so powerfully with the heart, nurturing and healing emotionally, uplifting spiritually, as well as rejuvenating and hydrating on a physical level. Enlivening Your Whole Being

Something magical happen each time I give a Dr Hauschka facial.  Mid way into the Classic Treatment my clients drift off into a deeply relaxed slumber.  It never fails, as I start to perform the lymphatic simulation which is  the heart of the Dr Hauschka Treatment, soft snoring sounds can be heard from my snoozing clients.  I feel happy as I know they have dropped into a deeply restorative state.  What is it about the lymph portion of the Dr Hauschka treatment that cause this deep relaxation response?

Lymph stimulation is a  technique, which harmonizes the lymphatic system, rather than a medical treatment like lymphatic drainage. The lymph system has capillaries which originate in all connective tissue. Their function is to remove water, metabolic waste and pathogens from the fluid between cells. Lymph stimulation promotes cleansing and strengthens elastic fibres in the connective tissue. This method enlivens the entire being as there is a correspondence between areas of the face and systems of the body. The forehead and eyes relate to the Nerve-Sense System (head, nerves and senses), the nasal area and upper cheek to the Rhythmic System (heart and lungs) and the lower cheek and chin to the Metabolic-Limb System (metabolism and movement).

Lymph stimulation is performed with a refined, gentle and rhythmical movement over the entire face progressing from the forehead down toward the chin using two silky soft cosmetic brushes. This light handed movement is done ideally in a quiet space away from the commotion of the outside world. The process stimulates and supports the living, rhythmical flow of the lymph. The power of gentle rhythms brings on a glowing, pleasantly aromatic skin and a refreshed feeling. This serene massage is brought to conclusion with the application of special ampules containing rhythmitized substances (the choice of the ampule will depend on individual needs).  I have heard it said that the lymph stimulation in the Dr Hauschka Treatment brings life energy ( also known as prana or chi)  to the body, and much needed restorative rest.
